VINELink is the online version of VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday), the National Victim Notification Network. This service allows crime victims to obtain timely and reliable information about criminal cases and the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day. Victims and other concerned citizens can also register to be notified by phone, email or TTY device when an offender's custody status changes. Users can also register through their participating state or county toll-free number.

Bond Information

The bonding out of a person incarcerated can be a very detailed process.  It requires ensuring the accuracy of information pertaining to all inmates before they are released.  Therefore, having valid picture identification and someone present for the identifying of the released person is very important.

Additionally, a check of police records, court documents and warrant information must be done. Any information regarding the person being bonded out must be verified prior to his or her release.  This may result in additional monies being needed, or the transferring of a person to another Law Enforcement Agency.  Due to the thorough nature of the checks we must conduct to assure a proper release, patience and time are key elements for this process.

Although a person can be bonded out at anytime of the day, paperwork or the release of individuals will not be processed during Shift changes, but will resume immediately thereafter.   It is the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office intent to complete the release process as quickly as possible and we appreciate your patience.

Associated Fees

Associated with every bond is an additional charge of $10.00 for each individual bond that is paid, as well as a booking fee of $12.00 that is assessed to all individuals booked into the Jail if it has not been previously paid.  All monies are due and must be paid before a person can be released.

Where to Pay Bonds

Bonds may be posted at the various District Courts, 3rd Circuit Court, and Friend of the Court when courts are open.  Bonds may also be posted at Jail Division I for inmates housed in either Jail Division I or Division II.

Bonds for Jail Division III inmates must be posted at that facility, which is located at 3501 Hamtramck Drive at Conant in Hamtramck.

Inmate Commissary Accounts

Money may by deposited into a Wayne County Jail Inmate's Commissary account under the following conditions: the money order must contain the Inmate's full and correct name and his WCJ Inmate number in order for the monies to be credited to the proper account. The money order must contain a return address and preferably a telephone number, in the event the person is discharged or there is a problem with the money order - the Property Room would like to be able to contact the sender or be able to return the money.

There is no limit on the total deposit that can be made to an account, however: no single money order can be over $100.00.

Money orders for those persons being held at Jail Divison I orJail Divison II may be dropped off at the deposit window at Jail 1 any time of any day. Jail Division III inmates may also have monies dropped off at Jail 3. Money orders may be sent through the US mail to any inmate in any of our facilities c/o the jail division they are being housed with the inmate number on the envelope and money order.

Project Fresh Start

Because most women who work as prostitutes have long histories of sexual abuse and drug addiction, the Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with the 36th District Court and the Detroit Health Department to create Project Fresh Start, a successful program that helps these women heal their physical and emotional scars, break their cycle of drug dependency and start a new life. Project Fresh Start recently received national attention when it was given an Achievement Award by the National Association of Counties.
