Department of Economic & Neighborhood Development

Community Development

Wayne County was named as a recipient of $25.9 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program(NSP) funds as part of the Housing and Economic Redevelopment Act (HERA). About $3.92 billion was allocated nationwide to address abandoned and foreclosed properties.

Among the programs administered through the Community Development Division are federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding, Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grants, and Weatherization funds. The County has also developed the Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program (MFPP) to help families stay in their homes during difficult economic times. Together, these programs reflect Wayne County’s holistic approach to neighborhood development; an approach that encourages safety, stability, and sustainability within our neighborhoods.

We encourage you to contact our Division directly to learn about how Wayne County can help revitalize your home and your community.

Homebuyer Assistance is now available in several Wayne County communities - please call the National Faith Community Homebuyers at (313) 255-9500 for more information.
