WAYNE COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION

  • THE WAYNE COUNTY ELECTION COMMSSION IS composed of the Chief Judge of the Probate Court, the County Clerk, and the Wayne County Treasurer. The commission members are responsible for furnishing ballots and specific election supplies for statewide August primaries, statewide November general elections and special primaries and elections held to fill vacancies in federal, state and county offices. In addition, the commission members are responsible for holding hearings to determine the clarity of the language used on recall petitions

    WAYNE COUNTY BOARD OF CANVASSERS

    The Wayne County Board of Canvassers is composed of four members; two Republicans and two Democrats.
    They are appointed by the Wayne County Board of Commissioners for four-year terms. The Board members are responsible for canvassing the votes cast within Wayne County. The Board is responsible for certifying elections for Federal, State, County as well as for School Districts that are not wholly contained. The Board also conducts Recounts for all units of government within Wayne County.
    The Board members are also responsible for inspecting the county’s ballot containers every four years.

    ELECTIONS DIVISION CAMPAIGN FINANCE UNIT

    Responsible for monitoring all County, local and school board candidate compliance with all filing requirements under the Michigan Campaign Finance Act, PA 388 of 1976. This includes all reports, related fees and fines.
