Information on Properties Available to Non-Profit Organizations
through the Wayne County Treasurer's Program

Wayne County Non-Profit Organizations:

We are writing to share the exciting news that the Wayne County Treasure in partnership with the Wayne County Land Bank is seeking to empower local non-profit organizations, including, but not limited to community development corporations, educational and faith-based organizations, with the access and tools to place tax reverted properties into a productive use.

Non-profit organizations will receive the property for a nominal fee and must meet adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Must present a development plan to get the property back into productive us within a twelve (12) month period;
  2. Must maintain the property in accordance with local governmental codes requirements, including securing the structures (if applicable) upon acquisition, removal of debris, lawn maintenance and snow removal;
  3. Pay $50.00 processing fee;
  4. Selling of property must be pursuant to a maintenance or development agreement;
  5. Expect preferential treatment to be given to adjacent land owners absent a development on the property

If you are interested in embarking on a partnership with the Wayne County Treasurer and the Wayne County Land Bank, please attend out information meetings to be held on July 29, 2008 at 3:00 PM at 400 Monroe, 5th floor Conference Room, Detroit, MI 48226. Note: All organizations must fill out an Application for WC Programs to be eligible to participate. List of properties will NOT BE AVAILABLE until the meeting on the 29th.
